About At Home Glow
Evidence-aware guides to LED masks, IPL, facial devices and hair tech for UK buyers.
What this site is
At Home Glow is a UK guide to at-home beauty technology: LED light therapy masks, IPL hair removal devices, microcurrent and facial tools, and hair tech. These are expensive devices sold with extraordinary marketing, and the gap between the marketing and the evidence is where most buyer's remorse lives.
Our approach: start from what the underlying technology can genuinely do, be explicit about who each device suits (skin tones, hair colours, expectations), and only then compare models. Where the honest answer is 'this device class doesn't do much', we say so and don't recommend anything.
What this site is not
This is not a medical site. The devices we cover are cosmetic tools, not treatments, and we don't present them as fixes for medical skin or hair conditions. Concerns that need a professional belong with a GP or dermatologist - and our guides say so where it's relevant.
Who it's for
- Anyone eyeing a £200-£500 device and wanting a straight answer before committing
- Buyers who've been burned by a device that 'worked for everyone' except them
- People comparing home devices against salon treatments on cost and results
- Fair-haired, grey-haired and deeper-skin-tone buyers who need suitability answers first
How recommendations are made
We research each device class by reviewing published research at the technology level, manufacturer documentation, verified owner feedback and independent reviews - and we cite the sources we rely on. We don't invent hands-on testing stories, and specific claims (wavelengths, energy output, flash counts) come from checkable sources.
Where products appear with prices, those prices are retrieved live from the retailer when you load the page.
How the site is funded
At Home Glow is reader-supported. Some outbound links are affiliate links - if you click through and buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. See the affiliate disclosure for details. Affiliate revenue never decides which devices make the cut or how they rank.
Editorial standards
How content is researched, written and corrected is documented in the editorial policy, and how AI tools are used (and not used) in the workflow is covered in the AI use disclosure.
